Trix Tick Lasso - Tick Removal Tool
The easy to use Tick remover

Protect yourself and reduce your chances of contracting Lyme Disease by using a fast and stress free method of tick removal. Getting a tick is always an unpleasant experience - removing it should not be.

Trix Tick Remover - Product Information

The Trix Tick Remover works as a lasso and is very fast and easy to attach to all ticks*. The lasso action provides a semi automatic method of correctly gripping the tick. Placement and slight pressure of the tip into the skin are the only requirements - the lasso pulls the tool into the correct position automatically.

The Tick Remover is extremely easy to master and very reliable at removing the whole tick without damage. Because the lasso adapts to the size of tick, a firm grip is maintained even on the smallest of nymphs. Other methods of Tick removal such as tweezers and hooks require more of a skilled hand and a willing patient to function correctly, especially on smaller ticks

The Trix tick remover is approximately 115mm long - an ideal size to fit into a webbing medi-pack or storm pouch, first aid kit or pocket.

Important Information you should know about crude tick remover devices incorporating a tapered slot and their use on ticks with long mouth parts.

Published reports from veterinary tests have shown that hook devices do remove the tick but not always cleanly. In 74% of cases, damaged and severed mouth parts were recorded when removing sheep ticks (I Ricinus).
 (Veterinary Record 2006 159, 526-529)

In the UK, you are most likely to be bitten by sheep ticks, so in our opinion hooks are not always the ideal removal tool. Hooks have more favourable results on tick species with short mouth parts rarely seen in the UK. User feedback shows preference for the Trix over hook type devices.

The clever design of the Trix Tick Remover makes it easy to use in ears, thick fur and other difficult to reach places. The remover also works very well when fur or hair comes into the lasso loop - hooks and tweezers are not so forgiving.

The tick is always stuck at the tip of the remover until disposal. The loop is made of special fibre which has a pull strength of more than 9 kilos, and is big enough to take care of most tick species in the world.

The tick remover and the tick removal method is International Patented, and also Design- and Brand Name protected.

Delivered in a transparent blister pack together with instructions for use.

Manufactured in Sweden and CE marked by the Medical Products Agency, and comes with a 10 year warranty

*the Trix is suitable for ticks of the species Ixodes (this would include all the species that are known to transmit Lyme disease), It should also work for smaller species of Amblyomma (A. americanum, for example) and possibly for some species of Dermacentor (eg, D. marginatus) or Rhipicephalus. Tests have found it unsuitable for Amblyomma hebraeum the large African cattle tick

Trix user Feedback

The Trix is now my tick remover of choice, being one-handed in operation and more positive than either the O'Tom or tweezers.
Ian www.nontix.co.uk

I have found it much easier to use than the hooks I obtained from the Vet and can highly recommend it. Mrs S, Norfolk

After years of removing ticks from my dogs I can honestly say that this is the best tick remover I have used. It is so easy to grab hold of the tick removing it completely therefore really reassuring that there is no part of the tick is left to cause infection or illness to the dog.

Anyone visiting or working in rural areas are at risk from tick bites. This can also include public spaces such as beer gardens, picnic spots, parks and gardens. High risk groups are those participating in camping, hiking/trekking, cycling, climbing and other outdoor activities and pursuits, also individuals such as the armed forces, forestry workers, park rangers. To find out more information about ticks and Lyme Disease visit Lyme Disease Action a UK charity dedicated to the prevention and treatment of Lyme - you can also buy the Trix from them

If you do find a tick on you or your pet, it is very important to remove it quickly and safely. Experts recommend tick removal tools rather than tweezers unless trained in their use. Never try to remove a tick using chemicals, cigarettes or vaseline as this can cause the tick to regurgitate infection into your blood stream. The Trix Lasso is one of the most effective and trusted removal device available in the world. Our customers include various wildlife organisations, NHS trusts, outdoor pursuit organisations, forestry, universities and research, pet shops and vets.
